Rengs of Azerbaijan: Bayat-e Shiraz by Ghasem Rahimzadeh, presents part of a rare and authentic collection of Azerbaijani Rengs; a traditional dance form deeply rooted in Iranian and Azerbaijani music. This album focuses on the Bayat-e Shiraz maqam, capturing its graceful rhythmic vitality and melodic depth.

These pieces were learned from performances by celebrated Azerbaijani masters: virtuosos of the garmon, tar, and kamancheh, and reimagined on the Iranian tar for the first time. Accompanied by the resonant tones of frame drum (dayereh) and naqareh performed by Master Vahid Asadollahi, the recording brings an intimate dialogue between tradition and reinterpretation.

Azarnava Vol.I stands as the first chapter of a continuing project to preserve and present Rengs according to their individual maqams, performed on the Iranian tar in a uniquely expressive form.
