Aline Tashchian
Pianist, Performer, Educator
CambiataArt Records Artist
Born in 1997 into a music-loving family, pianist Aline Tashchian has established herself as one of the promising emerging voices in Iranian classical performance. She began studying piano at the age of seven under Hrachouhi Makarian, later continuing with Arpy Simrojian, who introduced her to the art of ensemble collaboration. Alongside her academic studies in mathematics, Tashchian pursued an intensive, self-directed exploration of classical piano for three years—an experience that deepened both her interpretive insight and artistic independence.
In 2018, she began formal studies with Zarmik Babayan, quickly becoming one of her most advanced students. The mentorship of Professor Gagik Babayan has also been a formative influence, refining her artistic approach and professional development. Tashchian’s musical path reflects a balance between disciplined technique and expressive sensitivity, hallmarks that define her performances today.

Her artistry has been recognized through numerous awards and festival appearances. She received First Prize in the 6th Makan Piano Festival (Senior Category), First Prize in the 15th National Youth Music Festival (Category C), and was the Winner of the 1st Tehran Provincial Chamber Music Festival (Solo Piano Section). She also earned Third Prize at both the Orbetello International Piano Competition (Italy, Master Level) and the 14th National Youth Music Festival (Category B), as well as a Special Award for her performance of a piano concerto with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra at Vahdat Hall, conducted by Hamed Garschi. Additionally, she is a three-time Gold Medalist of the Annual Piano Competitions of the Armenian Community of Iran, where she was honored as an Outstanding Pianist.
Tashchian has performed widely as a soloist and collaborative pianist. Her recitals include From Baroque to Contemporary at the Tehran Music Museum, the Piano Performers Group concert at Roudaki Hall under Farimah Ghavam-Sadri, and appearances at Vahdat Hall with the Ararat Artistic Ensemble led by Meghedi Yeghnazar. She has also appeared as a soloist at the Contemporary Music Magazine Festival (Music Museum, Tehran), the Ravi Piano Recital (Sheen Music School), and the Avaplatt Festival. In 2023, she performed in the 120th Anniversary of Aram Khachaturian celebration, dedicated to the Aram Khachaturian Museum in Armenia.
As a collaborative pianist, Tashchian has built an impressive record of partnerships with vocalists, instrumentalists, and ensembles. She has accompanied thesis performances at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, working under professors Mirzoyan and Ghazaryan, and has collaborated with the Armenian National Choir, directed by Robert Mlkeyan and Tigran Mansuryan. Her accompaniment experience extends to masterclasses such as Dr. Azin Movahed’s Flute Seminar at the University of Tehran, and to numerous chamber music and vocal recitals across Tehran’s leading venues.
Aline has also been an active member of the Armenian Prelacy Educational Council, Ararat Choirs, and the Armenian Alumni Association, serving as resident pianist for over a decade. Her dedication to musical community life includes regular performances at the Tehran Music Museum, Chameh Studio, Ararat Cultural & Sports Club, and Consolata Church.
In addition to performance, Tashchian is deeply engaged in pedagogy and research. She is currently studying and translating The Art of Piano Pedaling, while teaching and lecturing on pedaling techniques as part of the Piano Pedagogy Program at Sheen School of Music. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity of tone, thoughtful interpretation, and awareness of historical style—bridging the technical and expressive dimensions of pianism.
Her versatility as both a performer and collaborator is reflected in her recent work with composer Saeed Lahouti and vocalist Shaghayegh Bagheri, featured on Timeless Melodies of Iran, released by CambiataArts Records. In this project, Tashchian’s refined touch and interpretive sensitivity bring Lahouti’s contemporary reimagining of Persian songs to life—creating an intimate dialogue between piano, voice, and memory.
Aline Tashchian continues to expand her artistic horizons through concert performance, chamber music, and education—balancing technical mastery with poetic expressiveness in all facets of her work.
