Melodies of Motherland is a curated collection of traditional Kurdish songs from Iran, offering a profound glimpse into the region’s rich cultural and musical heritage. Rooted in oral tradition and shaped by centuries of history, these pieces reflect themes of longing, resistance, celebration, and identity. The album brings together both well-known and lesser-heard melodies from Kurdish communities, arranged and performed with deep respect for their original spirit.

The project is led by Farzad Abbasi, a distinguished Iranian musician and educator born in 1974 in Kermanshah. With a career spanning over four decades, Abbasi is recognized for his extensive contributions to the preservation and interpretation of Persian and Kurdish classical music. He began his musical training in 1980, initially with the Tanbur, and later mastered the Setar, Tar, and Oud under the guidance of some of Iran’s most esteemed masters, including the late Houshang Zarif, Mohammad Reza Lotfi, and Mohsen Nafar. Abbasi holds a bachelor's degree in music and a master's in management and continues to be active as a performer, researcher, and teacher.

The album also features performances by renowned percussionists Peyman Sahihi, Homayoun Nasiri, and Hossein Rezaeenia, whose refined artistry adds rhythmic depth and regional authenticity to the collection.

Melodies of Motherland is both an artistic homage and a scholarly preservation of Kurdish musical identity, brought to life with nuance and reverence.
