Call for Contemporary Submissions

Regional Practices, Extinct Gestures, Forgotten Pathways

We invite the creation and submission of unpublished recordings for this international call for scores in contemporary music, experimental composition, and heritage-rooted works. Phantomnesis seeks pieces that explore the forgotten, the near-forgotten, and the reimagined; works that bring neglected musical systems, regional practices, extinct gestures, or overlooked aesthetic pathways into today’s listening.Write your text here...

We welcome submissions from composers and sound artists worldwide. Selected pieces will be professionally prepared for release published by CambiataArts Records as part of a curated compilation series. Artists whose works are chosen will also be invited to join the Cambiata Arts roster, receiving editorial support, promotional placement, and opportunities for future collaboration within our network.

Phantomnesis is committed to openness and to remove the barriers of high publishing costs while offering visibility and support for artists working outside mainstream avenues. There is no entry fee. This initiative is supported through editorial resources rather than a production budget, so we are not able to provide monetary honoraria for submissions or for inclusion on compilation releases, we do provide comprehensive support: editorial production, mastering, metadata, visual presentation, and international distribution. Composers retain full ownership of their works and will grant Cambiata Arts a simple, non-exclusive license for inclusion in the Phantomnesis series and associated promotion.

Our curatorial approach values context, care, and coherence. We work with distinct jury teams, each dedicated to specific categories of genres, ensuring that submissions are reviewed with professional expertise, fairness, and respect for artistic intent. Submissions are considered for how they engage forgotten or near forgotten material, and for their artistic conviction and feasibility as a released recording. we evaluate work with respect for cultural origin, practical realities of performance, and the listening experience of an album. Further details about eligibility, required materials, file formats, and submission timing are available on the submissions page.
